Introducing our new recyclable wet dog food packaging!
As climate change rages on, it’s become quite clear that we all have to do our part to help the environment. If we all work together, every little change can add up to big results, especially if the world’s leading brands jump on board, too.
Thankfully, you can count on Jiminy’s to lead the charge. In our mission to create quality products for our beloved canine companions, we never compromise on taking a truly eco-friendly approach. Our latest move? We’ve created wet dog food packaging with an environmental edge: Tetra Recart.
By using a purpose-built recyclable tetra pack instead of cans, we further our mission of staying eco-conscious every step of the way. Ready to see just why this is big news? Here’s what you need to know about our all-new recyclable wet dog food packaging.
The Key to Our Truly Eco-Friendly Packaging
As with all great environmentally friendly changes, we took a multi-faceted approach to creating our recyclable Tetra Recart wet dog food packaging. By looking at our impact on the environment in all the following ways, we were able to greatly improve our eco-friendly edge.
Renewable resources are at the heart of our Tetra Recart package design. In fact, 69% of our paperboard carton uses renewable materials. Cans, on the other hand, use nine times more non-renewable resources than paperboard. Since the renewable materials quickly regrow, their impact on the environment is negligible, helping greatly reduce our – and your – carbon pawprint.
When it comes to sourcing sustainable packaging materials, we don’t just take anyone’s word for it. Instead, we seek out material suppliers who only gather resources from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forests.
FSC-certification ensures that:
- The trees do not come from intact natural forests or have a high conservation value
- Strategic replanting and natural regeneration replace all the trees harvested at any given time
- Harvesting the trees does not destroy the natural characteristics of the forest nor its biodiversity
With that, we can trust that we’re always on the right track in staying eco-conscious and helping you do the same.
Although renewable, responsibly sourced materials allow us to reduce our impact on the environment, it doesn’t let you fully get in on the action. Don’t get us wrong. Choosing brands that make that effort is a big deal, of course, but that often doesn’t feel like it’s enough.
With that in mind, we made sure to make our Tetra Recart wet dog food packaging 100% recyclable. As you put each empty and recently cleaned pack in the recycling bin, more of your household waste gets diverted from the local landfills. You get to see in real-time just how your efforts add up, ensuring you see just how much of a difference your efforts make each day.
Low Package Weight
To complete this picture of perfection, we set out to create a package with the lowest weight possible. As a result of those efforts, our Tetra Recart package comes in at just 17 grams. In comparison, cans are 50 grams on average while glass jars are a stunning 200 grams.
The low weight means that our packages require far fewer materials to make. On top of that, the package takes up less room in the trucks and decreases fuel usage to improve transportation efficiency. So, whether you’re waiting for your wet dog food to arrive or putting the empty packages out for recycling, you can rest assured that the trucks tasked with their transport can make their moves at peak efficiency.
Recyclable Packaging Aligns with Our Eco-Conscious Mission
Our entire approach centers around staying eco-conscious in all we do. For starters, by using insect protein, our dog food takes less land and water to produce than traditional protein formulas. Beyond that, using insects eliminates methane production from the equation, emitting 740% less greenhouse gas than dog food and treats made from beef.
So, just by feeding your dog Jiminy’s, you can dramatically reduce your carbon footprint. Don’t believe it? Check out these stats.
Let’s say you have a medium-sized Australian cattle dog who eats around 1.5 cups of food per day. By switching to Jiminy’s for just one year, you’ll help save:
- 1 acre of land – or enough room to plan 610 trees
- 109,658 gallons of water – think: 73,105 toilet flushes
- 54,022 grams of greenhouse gases – equal to 152 miles left undriven

Ready to Try Out Our Recyclable Wet Dog Food Packaging?
Are you ready to experience the Jiminy’s difference – and check out our all-new recyclable wet dog food packaging? You just have to choose between our Good Grub Entrée and Cravin’ Cricket Entrée formulas. Both offer the highly digestible, prebiotic-rich food your dog loves, working well as a topper or complete and balanced meal.
No matter which formula you choose – or how you plan to feed your dog – the recyclable tetra pack promises to help you reduce your carbon footprint one step at a time. Just wash it out as soon as your dog finishes the wet food inside, and then squish it flat and toss it in your recycling bin. It’s really that easy.
If you’d like to further reduce waste produced by your household, peep the recyclable logo on the side of our tetra pack. Then, look for similar logos on the many other products you buy, so you can keep tossing more waste into recycling than the landfill. Over time, your efforts will help reduce your impact on the environment, hopefully adding up to great results as everyone does their part.
